As titled, this post was meant to share some experiences of sitting the MTA examination.
The Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) was a program run by Microsoft to help individuals/students take the first step toward a career as a new, entry-level certification.
I took this exam through the University I'm currently in, saved lot of money and trouble.
The are several programs offered, which I could recall was Server, Windows, Software, and the one I'm took, Database Administration (exam 98-364). All of these are fundamentals, of course.
After four days of intensive courses, we covered 5 chapters which each of them consists of 5 sub-chapter. However we took the exam almost a month later because of the repeating delay due to the network problem.
The exam was a great experience, when you start the exam (on IE browser), any keys other than 'Tab', 'Space', 'Arrows', and your mouse, will not work, yes, including 'Start' and ctrl+alt+del. This is to prevent cheating like Google for the answer online, etc etc. According to tutor, you can't even use a video capturing program to capture the exam progress, perhaps a real video recorder will works.
We need to answer 35 questions in 45 minutes, at 70% passing rate, we can only afford 8 wrong questions.
The cert will be ready in some time, following with the attending cert. They are like a ladder to climb, after MTA (associate), there will be specialists, and finally careers.
Ops, forgot to mention that the cert has only a validity for 5 years.
